First of all we would sincerely like to thank Pak Lah for the 23 years of service for the community and congratulations to Najib Razak on being appointed as the nation’s sixth prime minister. For sure there were many up and down’s during Pak Lah’s tenure. Pak Lah will always be remembered for the media freedom that he gave. There were also many issues that had affected the support for Barisan Nasional and Pak Lah and this included the support of the Indian community. There were many issues that had dissatisfied the Indian community.

But one thing certainly that Pak Lah did that was the best for the Indian community was by selecting T Murugiah as the senator representing People’s Progressive Party ( PPP ).
We have to admit that this young, hardworking politician is indeed going all out for the community. We are sure he will definitely suit the ‘One Malaysia ’ concept being promoted by the newly-appointed prime minister. His care and commitment for the Indian community can’t be denied.

The main issue now is, can the new prime minister perform better than Pak Lah in that he is sincere about reforming the country and that he is serious about his ‘One Malaysia’ concept?
He has certainly gained the support of some from the Indian community by releasing two of the Hindraf 5 from their ISA detention. My main question now is, will the Malaysian prime minister appoint two full cabinet ministers for the Indian community?

As far we know, the last time we had two Indian Ministers was in the early 1970’. The MIC will, of course, be given a full cabinet ministersotion. As Murugiah is performing well, will Najib appoint Murugiah from the PPP as the second Indian cabinet minister?
Najib has a shield in hand to protect himself and Barisan Nasional from losing the Indian vote by appointing hardworking, reliable cabinet minister to regain the support of the Indian community for the 13th general election.

The ball now is in Barisan Nasional’s and Najib’s court. Will he make the wise decision?
As for our Indian brother’s and sisters, spread the message to register as voter to prepare for the next general election.
